5 Questions for Heiko Müller, Managing Director Renishaw
Year after year, Control raises production quality to a new level. What competitive advantage do you see with your participation in the world’s leading trade show and how do you assess the current market situation?
The pandemic was a catalyst for the technology shift toward digitization and automation. With innovative product and service offerings, we see it as our responsibility to accompany our customers on this path. As a trendsetter for industrial measurement technology, Control offers us an international presentation platform in close proximity to our location in Pliezhausen.
The Control-Virtuell will be available at any time and from anywhere for all digital professional users. What benefits do you see for your company with an optimally filled showroom?
Digital platforms are especially helpful in times of contact restrictions to maintain communication in the “community”. The time and cost savings for visitors and exhibitors are considerable.- But the benefits are also limited. I see online formats as an important tool, but not a substitute for trade shows.
Numerous exhibitors have digitally laid out their latest product innovations for trade show visitors in Control-Virtuell. Tell us about the best features of your top product innovation and the associated benefits for real-world users.
We continue to expand our multisensor technology for coordinate measuring machines. REVO 5-axis technology already improves access to part features, reduces the number of styli, and speeds up measurement throughput immensely. Due to the multi-sensor technology, the REVO can additionally provide the surface roughness or optically segments with surface data in high data density. Further sensors are in the pipeline.
Control 2022 is now entering the planning phase as a presence trade show that will be firmly linked to its virtual format. How important is personal contact with your customers at Control 2022 directly at the products and service features to you and your sales team?
An in-person trade show format cannot be replaced by a virtual show. Many projects are initiated in personal discussions. When presenting new products and services, we get immediate customer feedback. Customers want to “touch” and “grasp”… A virtual show can’t do all that.
As a long-standing trade event, Control is the highly competent, established all-rounder in quality assurance. What are you particularly looking forward to at Control 2022?
After two years of abstinence, I am looking forward to numerous contacts with our business partners, to the latest information from the market and to our own team dynamics, which I have repeatedly noticed at trade fairs. And, of course, to the after-work beer. 🙂
